Whether you’re assessing a creek-bed, identifying buildable flat zones, or filtering out undesirable terrain in hilly regions like North Georgia or the West, the Slope Report delivers key insights that can save you both time and marketing dollars. 

Let’s walk through how to use this powerful tool step-by-step:

Step 1. Access the Property Card

If you haven't already, login to Land Portal.

Navigate to the property you want to evaluate within Land Portal.

Click to open the property card where you’ll find various details.

Step 2. Locate and Request the Slope Report

In the top-left section of the property card, click the “AI Report” button.

Click on "Slope Report" to start processing the report.

Click “Send Request.” The system will begin processing your Slope Report, which typically takes 1–3 minutes to generate.

Step 3. View Generic Slope Data

While waiting, scroll down on the property card to view general slope statistics:

Average slope percentage

Elevation minimum and maximum

Slope distribution (e.g., % of land under 5%, moderate, heavy, and extreme slopes)

Step 4. Open the Completed Slope Report

Once ready, access the Slope Reports in the left-hand menu or through the property card.

Click the Download PDF button to download and view the full report.

Step 5. Review the Elevation Map

The report opens with a color-coded elevation map showing slope intensity and topographical trends.

Higher elevation areas are marked in white/yellow/brown, while flatter, lower areas show in blue/purple.

This visual helps identify valleys, ridges, and potential water features like creeks.

Step 6. Explore AI-Identified Buildable Clusters

The tool uses machine learning to pinpoint clusters of flat terrain most likely to be buildable.

These clusters are outlined and color-coded on the slope classification map.

Scroll down in the report to view details about each cluster:

Elevation range

Slope breakdown (e.g., % under 5%, 5–10%, etc.)

Size of the area (in acres)

Step 7. Compare to Contour Lines and Other Maps

Use the Cluster Reports in tandem with contour lines or satellite imagery on the Land Portal Map to confirm the AI's assessment of the parcel.

This research is ideal for determining buildability near road frontage or avoiding inaccessible back-lot areas.

Step 8. Understand Resolution Variance

Most areas use 1x1 meter resolution for highly precise analysis.

Some regions (less than 15% of the U.S.) use 10x10 meter resolution, still usable but less detailed.

You’ll notice blockier visuals, but the slope classification remains helpful for decision-making.

Step 9. Use Filters on the Front End

Before pulling data, you can filter out high-slope properties using this tool.

This helps optimize your marketing and export strategies by targeting flat or gently sloping land only.
